Plumbline Teams

Grow your team by seeing how everyone is wired.

Most teams never talk about how each person works best until something breaks. Everyone answers on their own. Each person gets a growth report, and you get the team map and, if you choose, each person's full report.

  • The team mapA one-look snapshot of team health, how the team is wired, where you're strong, and the gaps no one covers.
  • A growth report for everyoneEach person's wiring, strengths, gifts and a 90-day plan the moment they finish, plus story slides of their highlights to share.
  • You choose who sees reportsSee each person's full report to shepherd them well, or keep reports private unless they share. Everyone is told before they start.
  • About 35 minutes eachOn any phone or computer. It saves as they go.
  • One yearly price for the teamFrom $249 a year. Retake it each year to see how you're growing.

For church staff, nonprofit teams and business teams. No grades, no pass or fail.

You can't lead people well until you know how they're wired.

Plumbline Teams puts it in one place: one set of questions for everyone, one growth report each, and one map for the team.

1You learn how people work when something breaks

Most teams never talk about how each person is wired until there's friction, a dropped handoff or a hard conversation.

2The tools pile up

One test for style, another for strengths, a survey for team health. Each has its own price, login and report.

3People hold back when it feels like a grade

When answers could cost someone their job, they answer for the boss, and the results stop telling you much.

How it works

Set it up in five minutes. Everyone gets their link by email.

  1. 1Add your team

Name the team and paste in everyone's name and email. Each person gets their own link.

  2. 2Everyone answers on their own

About 35 minutes, on any phone or computer. It saves as they go.

  3. 3Each person gets their own growth report

Their wiring, strengths, gifts and a 90-day plan, the moment they finish. No grade, no pass or fail.

  4. 4You get the team map

A snapshot of team health, then the detail: how the team works together, where it's strong, how it's wired, the gaps no one covers, and how many might be running low.

  5. 5Share it when you're ready

After you've met with your staff, share the team map with everyone so they can see how they fit together. Take it back any time.

What the team map shows

Where you're strong, how you're wired, and what no one covers.

  • Team health

How the team says it works together: trust, honest conversations, clear direction, follow-through, and care and pace. Each with a question to ask and one next step.

  • Strengths

The team's average in character, health, leadership and more.

  • Wiring

How many people lean each way on five dimensions of natural style.

  • Gifts

The spiritual gifts on your team, and the ones no one leads with (church and faith-based teams).

  • Health

How many people are below Solid on emotional health, so you can ask how they're really doing.

Your Plumbline

A story worth sharing.

When someone finishes, they get story slides of how they're wired: their title, strengths, lean and gifts, with their photo. Made to post, and it's always their choice.

Health and marriage results never appear on a slide. Shown: a fictional sample person.

  • Intro slide: photo, name and title, The Pioneer
  • What I bring: top strengths
  • How I'm wired: five sliders
  • How I serve: top gifts

Built for growing, not grading

Honest answers need trust.

Plumbline Teams uses the same research-based questions as Plumbline, but it isn't a hiring test. Everyone knows up front who will see their report, and no one's job hangs on a score. That honesty is what makes it worth having.

  • Honest, because it's upfront

Everyone is told before they start whether you'll see their report. Answers about how the team works together are only ever a team average.

  • Combined once 3 finish

You see the team's combined results once at least 3 people finish, so no one's answers can be picked out.

  • Or keep reports private

Prefer privacy? Start the team with private reports. Anyone can still share theirs with you, and stop any time.

  • Retake it each year

See how the team is growing, year over year.

Who it's for

For any team you want to grow.

  • Church staff

Pastors, directors and ministry staff. Includes faith, calling and spiritual gifts, so you can see the gifts on your staff and the ones no one leads with.

  • Nonprofit teams

Leaders and staff of a nonprofit. See how your people work best together and who might be running low. Faith questions are optional.

  • Business teams

Managers and leaders in a company. Work style, strengths and team health in one report for each person, and one map for the team. Faith questions are off unless you turn them on.

Hiring someone or assessing a church planter? That's Plumbline.

Questions team leaders ask

How long does it take?

About 35 minutes for each person, on any phone or computer. It saves as they go, so they can stop and pick up later.

Can I see each person's answers?

If you choose to. When you start a team, pick "You see each person's full report" (everyone is told before they start) or "Private unless they share." Either way, answers about how the team works together are only ever a team average, and the team map appears once at least 3 people finish.

Is this a hiring test?

No. Plumbline Teams is for growing a team you already have. There's no grade and no pass or fail. Hiring someone or assessing a church planter? That's Plumbline.

Do we have to be a church?

No. It works for church staff, nonprofit teams and business teams. For nonprofit and business teams, faith questions are optional and stay off unless you turn them on.

What does each person get?

A growth report the moment they finish: how they're wired, their strengths, their gifts (when faith questions are on) and a 90-day plan. They also get story slides of their highlights to post, can ask 3 or more teammates to rate what they've seen (shown only as an average), and can share their report with a board or elders. You choose whether you see each report or they stay private unless shared.

What does a plan cover?

One price per team for the year. A plan covers that many people on teams at once, and removing someone from a team frees their place. Over 50 people, add $25 a person a year. Everyone can retake it as often as you like.

What is it based on?

The same research-based questions as Plumbline, with the words changed to fit a team instead of a church plant. Teams adds a short "Our team" chapter on how the team works together, built on well-known team research such as psychological safety and Google's Project Aristotle, in our own words.
