For network leaders

The planter assessment your network can trust.

Plumbline hears from four people separately: the planting husband, the planting wife, their references and you. Then it shows you where they agree, where they don't, and what to talk about. Built by a church planter, for the people who send them.

What's inside

Built to see the whole person, and the whole couple.

8real planting scenariosPick the best and worst response; scored against experienced planters' choices

Every count on this page is read straight from the question set Plumbline uses today (version 2026.10).

How it's built

Nothing hidden. Every number shows its work.

Plain scoring

Each answer is 1 to 5, scaled to 0–100. Strength is 80 and up, Solid 65–79, Developing 50–64, and Growth Area below 50. The report shows how every grade was reached.

Non-negotiables come first

Integrity, devotion, current load and marriage partnership can hold back the recommendation on their own, however strong the rest is.

Honesty checks

Questions that catch a too-good-to-be-true picture, a few that test attention, pairs that should agree, and timing that shows rushing. You see the result, not a hidden penalty.

Four recommendations

Ready, Ready with Conditions, Development Needed, or Pause & Talk. It can't say Ready until the planting wife and at least two references have answered.

Optional extras

Context asks how well they fit the city they've named. Other assessments lets them add DISC, Myers-Briggs, CliftonStrengths, Enneagram, Predictive Index and Working Genius, and Plumbline checks those against its own Wiring.

Grounded in research

Drawing on Charles Ridley's planter competencies, published planter-assessment criteria from Send Network, PCA Mission to North America and Acts 29, and church planting survivability research. Every question is original.

How it compares

One assessment instead of eight.

Based on what each tool says it measures. A retreat with trained assessors is still the gold standard for many networks. Plumbline can be the first step before one, or the whole process for networks that can't afford one.

The process

From invite to conversation.

  1. Set it up5 minutes

Enter the couple's names, emails and city. Plumbline emails each person a private link.

  2. They answer on their ownAbout 35 and 25 minutes

The planting husband and wife answer separately, one question at a time, with two progress bars. Answers save as they go, so they can stop and finish on any device.

  3. References weigh inAbout 8 minutes each

Three to five people who know them rate what they've actually seen and say whether they'd join the launch team.

  4. You watch it come togetherLive

Your dashboard shows each person's progress, and you can send reminders with one click.

  5. Read the reportAbout 20 minutes

A graded report with a recommendation, strengths, growth areas, concerns, couple gaps, blind spots and context.

  6. Have the conversationAbout 90 minutes

An interview guide built from their answers, with questions to ask, what to listen for, and a place for your team to score.

  7. Release their reportsWhen you're ready

Each of them gets a personal report written to encourage and to name next steps.

Trust

Their answers stay where they belong.

Only your network sees them

The database itself blocks every other network, row by row. The husband and wife never see each other's individual answers, private notes or safety answers.

Deleted on schedule

You choose 12, 24 or 36 months, and assessments delete themselves after that. No ads, no tracking, and nothing is ever sold.
